Lucky

I've always wondered how its possible for a car to run a red light and hit another car. how is it that your mind can shut off like that? or maybe cus I have the it's-not-ever-going-to-happen-to-me mentality. well, that is, up until three hours ago. we were minutes from our house and about to cross the intersection on a green light when a car on the cross street crashed into our car's right side. I happened to be sitting on the right side. the car came so suddenly that I had no time to react. I felt pressure and then both our car and his car stopped. now in the safety of my room, I think about the potential "what-if's". had he been going any faster than 30 mph, the consequences would be more than just bruises and a dented car. call it bad luck for us to be at the wrong place at the wrong time but I believe that we're lucky. it could have been worse. a lot worse. drive safe.
