week one

a whole week since being in the lovely 604 and quite honestly it feels like its been a month since leaving the rents with all thats been happening everyday. first stop outta YVR: steveston. it felt all too familiar going down no.1 road and into the village. shout out to blam, gai and ksong for welcoming me into rez. y'all are the reason why I feel at home. my fave day this week would probably be the entire sunday spent with Agnes. now what could possibly be better than spending the day in a convertible complete with bueno bbt and best friend moments?! exploring the campus minus the 40000 students on labor day was really, really nice. except I got lost multiple times thanks to all the construction..... rez life is wonderful because a) no waking up 2 hours in advance of classes. commuting is srs not the business. b) meeting new people from all over the world. c) developing independence for the good reasons. p.s. I've avoided drinking this whole week so it is def possible but it does mean staying in your room on a sat night with the soci textbook while the majority of the people are outside being rowds. I've rediscovered translink and the minutes-but-what-seems-like-hours waits for the next bus. but also the great convenience of bussing which was not at all possible in the states. I've already taken a nice lil nap in Irving while waiting for my next lecture (yay for 4 hour breaks). I've learned that things don't go your way all the time: blueberry bagels are apparently no longer existent in timmys and what I thought would be a short half hour for a crim check turned out to be two hours because it just so happened that the rcmp moved half-way across the city. sometimes its good to have a car. its nice seeing familiar faces who remained important parts of my life over the past two years and also discovering friends with different backgrounds. other than one night, its been an easy transition into this college life.
